Can i sue my friend i let borrow my car for totaling it?

My friend borrow my car to go handle some important buisness. At the time I didnt know my pip insurance was cancel. My insurance company just now informing me in jun of the cancelation and the wreak happen in may. I wasnt able to drive her because I was drinkin the nite before. She totalled my car and I only had it 3 mo. Now the company writing me who fence she hit saying my insurance wouldnt cover it and I guess asking me snd her to pay for the damages. What to do
