Is it a bad idea to contact an EX?.....?

Good day to everyone! My name is Dhalma and I have a dilemma! My boyfriend and I WERE together for almost 2 years to be precise. I recently, to be exact 2 weeks agi broke it off with him. I am 20 yeqars young ;) and he is 22. The reason being i was fed up with him acting so damn stupid. What happened was, i was on his phone playing a game and happened to see a text where his friend asked him ''why r u going to give her $100?'' snd he responded '' i'll try to get her pissed'' basically so he wont have to give me the money. buttt.....he had told me it was fine he doesnt mind giving me the $100. So, i didnt understand that, it didnt make any kind of sense. So, today i texted him because, i missed him, and have been. I know if i really miss him now, i should of tried to work out the problem instead of breaking up with him, but i just got frustrated, because he was putting it out like if I was the bad guy! So, my question is, do you think it was ok to contact him? or a bad idea? i tected '' hey just wanted to see how you were doing.'' help! :)
